The Geology Department of Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat is the only department in Jorhat district offering undergraduate core and generic courses in Geology. In fact, it is one out of five such departments affiliated to Dibrugarh University at present. Ever since its inception, it has earned a strong reputation for itself due to which meritorious students from entire Upper Assam, are drawn to it. Students of this department have progressed to reputed State and Central Universities and IITs all over India for higher studies and have established themselves in many organizations of professional repute.
