A. General Programme

B. Skill-based Professional Courses

  • One year Post-graduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA).
  • Three-year Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA).
  • Two months Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) training sponsored by DOEACC. Short term Courses on Computer Basics at regular intervals.

C. UGC Sponsored Career Oriented Courses :

  • Composite Pisciculture & Ornamental Fishing (one year duration).
  • Computer Hardware and maintenance (one year duration).
  • Understanding Film Studies and Digital Film Making (To be introduced from 2015-16 session) (Subject to the sanction of grant by UGC)
  • Tourism and Travel Management

D. Special CPT Course :
Students who have appeared the 10th class final examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India may register for CPT (Common Proficiency Test) for Chartered Accountancy Course. Students of all streams (Arts, Commerce, Science) are eligible for this course organized by the Commerce Department, J.B. College.

E. Tally Certificate Course :
Students who have appeared the 10th class final examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India may register for Tally certificate course Students of all streams (Arts, Commerce, Science) are eligible for this course organized by the Commerce Department, J.B. College.

F. Courses under Distance Education:

  1. Degree, Diploma and certificate courses in various subjects under IGNOU are being offered since the session of 2008-09. (for details please contact Dr Jibon Saikia, course Coordinator).
  2. Degree(including BCA), Diploma and Certificate Courses in various subjects under K K Handique State Open University (for details please contact Dr. Sumitra Purakayastha, course coordinator).

Eligibility of entry into Degree Programme :

The minimum aggregate mark for entry into these courses is 45% in 10+2 Examination with 5% relaxation for certain reserve categories as per Govt. rules.

Medium of Instruction :

Medium of instruction is both English and Assamese

 

B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. SEMSTER COURSE
(SEMESTER SYSTEM UNDER DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY)
Academic Session : 2015 - 2016

Semester System is an innovative approach to teaching-learning process, an educational culture, a studentfriendly system, which require a new mindset in the part of the learners as well as the facilitators of learning.

The UGC vide its circular No. D.O. No. F.I-2/2008 dated March 2009 under the new initiatives for academic reforms under XI plan that the Universities shall have to take necessary action in order to introduce the Semester System at the under graduate level by 2012.

As recommended by the 103 Meeting of the Under Graduate Board, Dibrugarh University held on 19.08.2010,
the 95 Meeting of the Academic Council, Dibrugarh University held on 09.09.2010, vide Resolution No. 9 has approved the Dibrugarh University Regulation for BA/B.Sc./B.Com Programmes in the Semester System, 2010. This has come into effect from 2011-2012 Academic Session. The Semester Programme is of three years duration distributed in six semesters.

Classifications :
* 1st, 3rd and 5th Semesters : ODD SEMESTER (June 15 - Nov. 30)
* 2nd, 4th and 6th Semesters : EVEN SEMESTER (Jan. 01 - June 30)

Admission Notice and Criteria :
Newspaper Notice inviting applications for admission into the different programmes shall be issued by the Principals of the colleges/institutes as per the Academic Calendar of the University. The admission criteria shall be fixed by the Academic Council from time to time whenever necessary. The college/ institutes may also adopt their own policy for admission or selection of eligible candidates for admission complying with the eligibility criteria prescribed by the University.

Structure of Courses of the Programmes :
All B.A., B.Sc. and B.Com. Programmes shall have the following components :

  1. Compulsory Courses : These courses are the compulsory courses for all students of the programme
    concerned.
  2. Major Courses : Major courses shall be optional and non-mandatory. Major courses shall be chosen by the
    students.
  3. Non-Major Courses : Non-Major courses shall be chosen by the students who do not opt for Major coures.
  4. Skill-based Courses : A skilled based course shall be mandatory for all students pursuing GENERAL BA and BSc programme
