An extempore speech competition was organized at Jagannath Barooah University, Jorhat, on the occasion of National Sports Day. The event was conducted with the support of the District Sports Office and aimed to encourage students to express their views on sports, fitness, and their significance in everyday life.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students representing different departments of the university. Participants spoke on various topics related to sports, highlighting its importance in promoting discipline, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle.
Trishnamoni Saikia, a 3rd Semester student from the Department of Sociology secured second position and earning recognition for her confident delivery, clarity of thought, and insightful perspective on the given topic.
The judges appreciated the participant’s ability to articulate ideas effectively within a limited time, reflecting both subject knowledge and communication skills. This accomplishment brought pride to the Sociology Department and showcased the talent and potential of its students.
Faculty members and fellow students congratulated the winner for the achievement and acknowledged the department’s continuous encouragement towards participation in co-curricular and academic activities.
