Digital Poster Making Competition on the occasion of World Environment Day, 2024
As a part of the celebration of World Environment Day-2024, Chemical Society of the Department of Chemistry in association with ECO Club, NCC Department, JBC Students' Union & NDLI Club, J. B. College organized a Digital Poster Making Competition among students.
Result of the Essay competition is as follows:

Intra-Departmental Extempore Speech Competition organized by Chemical Society, Department of Chemistry, J.B. College (Autonomous)

Chemical Society of Department of Chemistry, Jagannath Barooah College (Autonomous) has successfully organized an intra-departmental Extempore Speech Competition among the 1st Semester students on 21.08.2023 at Conference Hall I, JB College.

Mrs. Akhtara H. Kalita, HoD, Dept. of Chemistry formally welcomed all the students and explained the rules of the competition. This competition is held annually by the Chemical Society to interact and get familiar with new students.

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

The Department of Chemistry, J.B. College came into existence in 1949 with a major objective to impart quality education in the area of chemical sciences in the NE region. Currently, 03 Associate Professors, 04 Assistant Professors, and 03 supporting staff are associated with the department. The department has been awarded a special assistant grant by DST under the star college scheme, along with the Department of Botany, Physics, and Zoology. In addition to academia and research, faculty members in the department are involved in various extension services.

The department has five well-equipped laboratories for students and one for research purposes. The library of the Chemistry Department has a good collection of text and reference books available for students. The department from 2023 started offering Four Year Undergraduate Program (FYUGP) under NEP 2020, in Chemistry (core) with an intake capacity of 53 students. As per NEP 2020, the Department also offers a one-year certificate course, a two-year diploma course, a three-year degree course and a four-year degree with honours course. From the current academic session, the department is also offering a Five-Year Integrated Post Graduate Program (FYIPGP) for students qualifying CUET (UG). From the 2025-26 academic session, the department is going to offer Post Graduate (PG) Courses in Chemistry with an intake capacity of 15 students.
