Jorhat, May 14: Jagannath Barooah University (JBU) successfully organized a workshop on the implementation of Bloom’s Taxonomy in syllabus design on Wednesday, marking a significant step towards aligning academic practices with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The workshop was held under the initiative of the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Jagannath Barooah University.

The programme aimed at familiarizing faculty members with the application of Bloom’s Taxonomy in curriculum and syllabus development, which the university plans to implement from the current academic session as part of its NEP 2020 adoption process.

The workshop featured insightful sessions by distinguished resource persons including Dr. Pankaj Kakati, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, JBU; Gauranga Saikia, Guest Faculty, Department of Mathematics, JBU; Ankita Bharali, Guest Faculty, Department of Mathematics, JBU; and Sujata Baruah, Guest Faculty, Department of Education, JBU.

The sessions were moderated by Dr. Kishor Goswami, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Office of the Vice Chancellor, Jagannath Barooah University, who highlighted the importance of outcome-based education and structured learning objectives in modern higher education.

Around 50 faculty members from various departments of the university actively participated in the workshop. The participants engaged in discussions on designing learner-centric syllabi, preparing measurable course outcomes, and integrating higher-order thinking skills into teaching and evaluation methods.

University authorities stated that the initiative reflects JBU’s commitment to academic excellence and educational reforms in accordance with the vision of NEP 2020. The successful completion of the workshop is expected to strengthen the university’s efforts towards developing a more effective, skill-oriented, and outcome-based curriculum framework.
