The Department of Physics, Jagannath Barooah University, in collaboration with the family members of Late Mukul Chandra Chaliha, organised the 4th Ex-Principal Mukul Chandra Chaliha Memorial Lecture on 23rd October 2025 at the University Auditorium. The event celebrated both academic excellence and the enduring legacy of a distinguished educationist.The programme commenced with the inauguration by Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia, followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Jibon Saikia, Head of the Department of Physics. The formal meeting was chaired by Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, Registrar of the university. A succinct introduction of the esteemed speaker was presented by Smt. Anmona Bora, former Vice Principal of Jagannath Barooah College. The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Paramananda Mahanta, Retired Professor of Physics, Dibrugarh University, on the topic “100 Years of Quantum Physics and Science Study in Assam.” Dr.Mahanta highlighted the historical evolution of quantum physics, major advancements in the field over the past century, and its wide-ranging applications. He emphasised how accurate data leads to the discovery of true scientific facts. He also made a special mention of the establishment of Jagannath Barooah College and commended its rapid progress and pioneering role in enriching the educational landscape of Assam. Following the lecture, two significant books were ceremonially released:

        “Mahapurusha SriSri Madhabdeva (শ্ৰীশ্ৰীমাধৱদেৱ)” authored by Dr. Anjana Chaliha and Dr. Archana Boruah, released by Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Jyoti Prasad Saikia.

        ”Krishnakanta Handique Aru Bidyasorsar Dhrupodi Porompora (কৃষ্ণকান্ত সন্দিকৈ আৰু বিদ্যাচৰ্চাৰ ধ্ৰুপদী পৰম্পৰা) authored by Pandit Ranjit Kumar Deva Goswami, released by Sri Niren Boruah, former Vice Principal of Bahona College. This publication is a compilation of the 3rd Mukul Chandra Chaliha Memorial Lecture delivered by the author.On this occasion, a scholarship was presented to Ms. Kalpita Dutta for securing the highest marks in Physics in the recent undergraduate examination, reflecting the spirit of academic encouragement established by Late Mukul Chandra Chaliha. The event concluded with a warm Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Mriganka Sekhar Chaliha, son of Late Mukul Chandra Chaliha, and Dr. Anjana Chaliha, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, students, and family attendees for their invaluable presence and support.The memorial lecture stood as a remarkable blend of scholarly discourse and tribute, honouring a visionary academic whose contributions continue to guide and inspire future generations.
