The department of economics strives to teach the concepts of economic thought from simple to complex, and to impart practical knowledge of the subject. The teaching in the department also focuses on the application of economic theories in daily life, as a producer and consumer, for rational decision making. The department engages the learners in data collection, processing, and analysis on various emerging economic issues, with the aim of equipping students for careers in academia and the dynamic job market. The department also takes steps in mentoring, counselling, and other activities for students’ progression, to support and encourage research and to develop entrepreneurship skills in alignment with the new education policy in the changing economy of the 21st century. The department’s goal is to enhance learners’ employability in higher education institutions and the labour market.
