The Department of Sanskrit observed ‘World Sanskrit Day’ on 9th August 2025, in collaboration with Sanskrit Bharati, Jorhat Branch. Mr. Arabinda Bordoloi, a prominent Sanskrit enthusiast, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. The event aimed to promote awareness and appreciation of the Sanskrit language among students through various competitions, which includes recitation and speeches in Sanskrit, involving students from various institutions across the Jorhat district. Many students from different schools and colleges participated in the competitions.
In the valedictory program, Dr. Champak Deka, Head of the Department of Sanskrit, delivered a warm welcome address to all the dignitaries and participants. Dr. Utpal Jyoti Mahanta, Registrar, Jagannath Barooah University; Dr. Surajit Sharma, Dean of Academic Affairs, Jagannath Barooah University; Dr. Kalyani Goswami, former HoD of Sanskrit; and Mr. Iswar Prasanna Bordoloi, social worker, delivered lectures during the session. Dr. Swapna Borah, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit, skilfully hosted the meeting. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Jayanta Das Sastri, District Coordinator, Sanskrit Bharati, Jorhat Branch.
