GSI organized students interaction programme under ‘Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsava’

Geological Survey of India (GSI) Training Institute, Shillong, has organized an interaction programme on the topic ‘Future of Geoscience’, with the Department of Geology of Jagannath Barooah (Autonomous) College, Jorhat, on the occasion of ‘Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsava’, on 30 June, 2021. All the faculty members and students of the department, numbering about 80, have joined the session in virtual mode on the Webex platform. The session was formally inaugurated by Dr. Nurul Amin, Head of the Department of Geology, J.B. (Autonomous) College. The session was addressed by Dr. Bashab Nandan Mahanta, Director, Geological Survey of India (GSI) Training Institute, Shillong and Dr. N Surdas Singh, Sr. Geologist of GSI. In the session Dr. Mahanta explained about the various challenges and opportunities of Geological Science in the near future. The students are highly benefited by the interaction as it will help them in selecting their future career. Dr. Singh highlighted various activities of GSI and how students and others can be benefited by these activities. Students have offered their sincere thanks to GSI and hope for more such interaction in the near future.
