History

The Bengali department was established in the year 1962.The initial classes were run by contractual teachers. The Department took a formal shape under the leadership of Late Sri Shyamakanti Dey in the year 1965.He served the college for 30 years till his expiry on service in the year 1994. Dr Debasish Bhattacharyya took over the reign of the department in the year 1995, but after 4 months service he found better opportunities in a college in Karaimganj.

Mr Debabrata Lahiri joined the Department in 18th September of 1995 and is currently leading the Department.
