Vision
The vision of Political Science Department seeks to provide students to analyze the Socio-Political atmosphere of the society. It try to make the students to became responsible citizens. The department makes the students conscious citizen so that they can face multiple challenges of the society The department is committed to develop among the abilities of critical evaluation so that they can raise their voice towards the existing system.
Mission
To give information about Indian and Western Political Thinkers. It wants to make them aware about democratic values like justice, liberty, equality, secularism etc. It provides updated knowledge related to Indian Administration System and International Relation.
The Department of Political Science at Jagannath Barooah College, established in 1930, initially functioned under the Civics and Economics Department. Recognizing the importance of Political Science as a distinct discipline, it was separated in the 1961-1962 session. The major course in Political Science was introduced in the 1966-1967 session, with the first batch graduating in 1970. The department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
