The Department of Geology, Jagannath Barooah College was constituted in 1977. At present it offers an academic program of B.Sc. (Honours) in Geology. The department focuses on an understanding of fundamental concepts of Earth and Planetary processes. It admits about 40 students annually in its B.Sc. program. At present the department has five faculty members and one office staff. It has ample modern classrooms and laboratories to carry out its teaching-learning activities. There is a sufficient collection of books and journals in the departmental library.
