A Two days NCC capsule camp was organized by the department of NCC, JB College(autonomous) on 13th and 14th November 2021 under the leadership of Captain Jury Bhuyan, NCC officer. The location was Nameri, situated in Assam and Arunachal border. 34 students and few teachers participated with an aim to take the students out from the four walls of class room giving the feel of outdoor classes catering to their practical syllabus amidst lush green nature. Classes were also arranged on career opportunities in tourism industry, shipping industry and merchant navy by Dr. Rajlaxmi Bordoloi and Hemanga Baishya ,Navigating Officer. Principal Rajesh Das and Ruby Singha of Chariduar Higher Secondary school attended the cultural program instantly organized by the students. A trekking of 7 kms from Nameri towards Bhalukpung was organized not only to experience adventure activities but also to explain geostrategic importance of border region situated on the banks of river Kameng. All the events provided sufficient benefit to the students in promoting physical and mental abilities turning learning more fruitful.
The NCC capsule camp is in sync with the NEP that has put more emphasis on outdoor activities in comparison to classroom teachings.
In view of such perspectives, in the current year the UGC has instructed guidelines to include NCC as an elective subject in colleges and universities all over India. JB College (autonomous) on the other hand, had started NCC as generic elective subject in the year 2018 under the guidance of Captain Jury Bhuyan. This initiative has been appreciated by the Ministry of Defence and DG NCC and acknowledged J.B College as a pioneer institute in Assam in implementing NCC as a generic elective subject.
