The Department of Zoology, Jagannath Barooah University, Jorhat, organized an online talk under its lecture series “BioTalk” on 25th October 2025. The talk was delivered by Dr. Suktilang Majaw, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, on the topic “Innovations in Animal Breeding: The Path to Disease-Resistant Populations.”
The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Dhiramani Bhuyan, Head of the Department of Zoology, who highlighted the objectives of the BioTalk series and introduced Dr. Majaw mentioning her academic background and research contributions.
Dr. Majaw highlighted recent advancements in molecular and selective breeding techniques for developing disease-resistant animal populations. The session was highly informative and interactive, engaging both students and faculty members. An interactive session followed the presentation, where students and faculty members actively participated and raised thought-provoking questions. Dr. Majaw addressed the queries with clarity and encouraged young researchers to pursue interdisciplinary approaches in zoological research.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rashmi Rekha Saikia, coordinator of the programme who expressed sincere gratitude to the resource person for her enlightening talk and to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement.
The talk was a great success and provided a platform for academic enrichment and scientific exchange.
