Department Chemistry in association ECO Club, JB College successfully organized a Two-Days Workshop on Solid Waste Management & Vermi-composting. Dr. Utpal J. Mahanta, principal, JB College  inaugurated the workshop with a welcome address and wished success of the workshop.

Day-I (05-06-2024): The invited resource person, Dr. Bhaskar J. Sharma, HOD, Department of Chemistry, JIST, Jorhat gave an intriguing talk on safe particles for the environment and discussed the role of students in maintaining a healthy environment through proper waste disposal. Further, Archita Saikia, an ex-JBian demonstrated how plastic waste may be converted into beautiful crafts.

Day-II (06-06-2024): Dr. Bhabesh Gogoi, Soil Scientist, AAU, Jorhat graced the second day of the worshop and delivered a resourceful talk on the use and production of vermi compost. Dr. Pallwabee Duarah, Asst. Professor, Department of Zoology, JB College gave hands-on-training on vermi composting. 

The workshop was jointly convened by Dr. Jayashree Nath, Asst. Professor, Department of Chemistry and Dr. Pallwabee Duarah, Asst. Professor, Department of Zoology, JB College.
