The Department of Statistics was established in the year 1954. For the first nine years (1954 - 1965), the Department offered a non-major course in the subject. A Pre-degree course was introduced in 1965. Since 1967, the Department has been offering a Degree Major course in Statistics. Number of alumni of this department are working in various sectors all over the globe specially in the field of teaching, research, state and central government, industries etc.
