The Department of Mathematics, Jagannath Barooah college (Autonomous) has always strived to become a leading Mathematics Department in the country and has worked towards becoming a centre for higher studies and advanced research in various areas of mathematics so that it can contribute to the development of the nation.

MISSION

The Department of Mathematics, Jagannath Barooah College (Autonomous) is a diversified community of scholars dedicated to excellence in teaching, scholarship, research, and service in the disciplines of pure and applied mathematics. The department is dedicated to scholarship and research in the mathematical sciences, and to active participation in the professional life of its disciplines through publications and professional meetings.

Apart from regular UG and PG courses the department regularly sponsors special lectures and activities to enrich the academic life of the campus and the larger community. Department members share in the role of faculty governance through committee participation at all levels within the College.

The goal of these programs of study is to equip all of our students with the conceptual understanding, computational skills, and persistent disposition required to use quantitative reasoning and analysis effectively in their personal and professional lives. For mathematics majors and graduate students, we aim to provide stimulating mathematical experiences that will bolster their future careers, whether that be the application of mathematics in practical contexts or contributions to the mathematical profession through teaching, productive scholarship and active participation in professional organizations.
