MoU betwen J. B. College, Jorhat and the ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been executed on 1st December, 2022, between the Department of Geography, Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat 785001, Assam represented by Dr Utpal J Mahanta, Principal, JB College, Jorhat and the ICAR-National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (ICAR-NBSS&LUP), Jorhat Regional Centre- 785004 (Assam) represented by its Head (Acting), Dr. U. S. Saikia, with the following research objectives and goals:

i) Making provisions for imparting education in different branches of study, in Geography.

ii) Furthering the advancement of learning and conducting research, particularly in fields of Physical and Natural Resource management, such as Soil study and Agro Ecological analysis, and Climate change related studies.

iii) Undertaking Field surveys and Research projects using latest technological tools such as Remote sensing and GIS, for contributing to the existing pool of knowledge.

WHEREAS, ICAR-NBSS & LUP is a centre with the following major objectives:

I) To conduct research in the areas of Soil Survey, Pedology, Geomorphology, Remote Sensing, Geographic Information System.

II) To publish and disseminate the research findings as per procedure.

III) To provide training to Students, teachers and scientists primarily in the field of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, mainly.

Both the Institutions will strive to encourage academic and research activities through this MoU as per the procedures laid down by the Research Council of Jagannath Barooah College and ICAR-NBSS & LUP
