During 17 – 19 March, 2016, the Department of Physics, Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat, Assam successfully organized an IUCAA sponsored “Workshop on Astronomical Data Analysis (WADA-2016)”. The workshop was intended for graduate and post-graduate students, research scholars and college/University teachers who are working in the area of astronomy and astrophysics. The number of participants for the workshop was 63 which included students, research scholars and faculty members of Colleges and Universities of different parts of Assam (Bahona College, Jorhat; J. B. College. Jorhat; Jorhat Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat; Pandu College, Guwahati; Cotton College State University, Guwahati; Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh; Gauhati University, Guwahati; Tezpur University, Tezpur and The Assam Kaziranga University, Jorhat). The coordinators of the workshop were Prof. Ranjeev Misra (Coordinator, IUCAA, Pune), Dr. Ankur Gogoi (Coordinator, J. B. College, Jorhat, Assam) and Dr. Jibon Saikia (Joint – Coordinator, J. B. College, Jorhat, Assam). The resource persons of the workshop were Prof. Ranjeev Misra (IUCAA, Pune), Dr. Gazi A. Ahmed (Tezpur University, Assam), Dr. Rupjyoti Gogoi (Tezpur University, Assam), Dr. Sukanta Deb (Cotton College State University, Assam) and Dr. Sonali Sachdeva (IUCAA, Pune). The workshop focused on X-ray/Gamma-ray and IR data analysis. The program covered a mixture of practical hands-on data analysis sessions and also included exciting science talks and complementary skills training. Priority was given to hands-on sessions of data-analysis. The outside participants were provided with free accommodation during this workshop.
